Todays teaching was The power of resilience.
Resilience is the ability to adapt and bounce back from difficult experiences, developing mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility to cope with challenges and adversity.
The teaching was powerful, we all have tough times but I know from my own experience we can always bounce back.
Last week I felt beaten and flat, it’s so true the saying “ this too shall pass” because it does, time stands still for no man.
I went back to West Cumbria on Friday which always feels like ‘home’ it happens just as I drive over the brow from Bigrigg into Egremont.
I see the rugby ground to my right where we buried my dad’s ashes on the touchline.
I pass the road on my left leading to East Road where I grew up and lived until I left home to get married at the age of 24.
I pass Thornhill where my friends Sheena and Nadia lived. Just before Thornhill there is the road to Hale where at the Trohear’s farm I remember trying my first homemade Sloe Gin.
Will and I had lunch at ‘yam frae yam’ the cutest cafe in Gosforth with my friend Elizabeth. The owners baby Freddie crawled under the tables and sat on the laps of the customers. The owner gave us free cake as a kind gesture for reading books to Freddie.
As we arrived at Caulderton I saw the sun glistening on the sea, the tide was out and I could smell the beach. Bill who lives on the beach always says “ when you come under that bridge onto the pebbled track you leave all your troubles behind” and I sure did.
Time away, time to reflect, time to recharge, a change of routine, a fresh perspective. Windy walks on the sand, being able to see for miles, problems seemed smaller. I am just a speck in the ocean.
I collected Molly yesterday, we have had a lovely time together, she is improving in every way. I felt like I had climbed a mountain last week it was a challenging one however, thankfully the trip to West Cumbria was a tonic!
Now let me see…
Happy Mothers Day!
