Where to now?

12/02 GP said “Mollys bowel sounds good”

13/02 RADS Psychiatrist thinks we should decrease the quetiapine down again.

I asked, in the light of Molly still suffering from stomach pain and sickness should we possibly consider that ‘Antipsychotics, especially second-generation antipsychotics can cause gastroparesis and other gastrointestinal issues because they delay gastric emptying? (Note: Quetiapine and lamotrigine are both second generation).

24hours 3.30pm 15/02 – 3.30pm 16/02.

Molly was in pain upset and had been sick on and off, after her evening meal I bathed her and she was sick, it was now a bath full of undigested food. I noticed she had blood in her underwear. I thought it was from her back passage. Called 111 for advice, they said a doctor would carry out a house call. They did but not until 2.30am. Advised to give her anti sickness when she wakes. The sickness had continued from 6pm until 2.am. At 8.30am Molly went to the toilet and there was fresh blood in the pan. Called 111 they advised that they think she needs to go to hospital and would send an ambulance, Molly was back in the bath and so I said I would take her in myself. A slot/time was arranged for 10.30am, they said A&E were expecting Molly we arrived but they were not expecting her, they said 111 doesn’t liaise with them?

What!!!

So we wait, a triage nurse told us the wait was currently three hours, she saw Mollys pain and distress, I said I would prefer to wait in the car or come back, she offered us a family room for which I was very grateful.

A dr took us into a CHOC consultation room, she tried to examine Molly but it was not happening. She did however see enough to believe the blood was from her vagina. She asked, “what are the plans reference Mollys sickness?” and said “the GP should be the one driving the referrals needed”.

A&E cannot help” she said

“I appreciate your frustration”she said,

“Please get in touch with your GP” she said. “

“This is not acute, it is a chronic case that should under review by her GP” she said.

We left A&E at 3.30pm.

Molly has not had her medication since 6pm yesterday, it will re-start at 6pm tonight. Her lips are sore, swollen and bleeding from all the acid in her vomit.

To do tomorrow:

Check in with Molly

Try and get a GP appointment

Call hospital LD liaison person

Call PALS Patient Advise Liaison Service

Keep on keeping on….

This is a succinct version of the last 24hours in Mollywood.
