Since the endoscopy Molly has continued to have sickness and abdominal pain, however this has not prevented her from having ‘better days’ in fact some have been described by staff as “super positive”. Monday 16th September Molly went back to Prism Art, reported to have been sick and cried but even so this was progress! On the 19th September Molly commenced new medication for sickness Metoclopramide which resulted in her experiencing oculogyric crisis yet again and to be honest she also continued to be sick (slightly less than previously) whilst taking it. Had another nightmare dealing with 111, eventually but not right away the Metoclopramide was then changed to Domperidone. I later learnt this new anti-sickness drug belongs to the same class of drugs as the Metoclopramide and also has the same side effects one of them being oculogyric crisis, fortunately this time this was prescribed as PRN (‘as when required‘.)
Since the reduction in quetiapine Molly’s constipation has become manageable and she has dropped the docusate tablets and the Laxido sachet is now prescribed as PRN. The reductions in her medication feels music to my ears!
The Functional Psychiatry Team in Leeds have received some of Molly’s result from their testing and requested that she starts the following supplements:
Inessa Advanced multivitamin 1 a day ( has 2000IU Vit D) commenced on 26/09/2024
Bare Biology Omega-3 commenced on 02/10/2024
Inessa Magnesium 1 commenced on 29/09/2024
Molly has tolerated these satisfactorily and is due to start the ADEK pro daily.
In the meantime we received a letter from the Infirmary GI consultant, the histopathology report stated the endoscopy examination was normal and mild non erosive duodenitis found, however there was food stasis present in the stomach which might be suggestive of gastroparesis. The stomach biopsies were taken to rule out H-pylori infection and the biopsies came back showing mild chronic gastritis and negative for H-pylori.
On the 21st October Molly will have a gastric emptying study to rule out gastroparesis at the Nuclear Medical Department at the Carlisle Infirmary. The test will involve Molly being given a small amount of radioactive tracer contained within a meal of scrambled eggs on toast after which a series of pictures will be taken over a period of 90 minutes…. now let me see…..
Just for today, I believe we are on the right path especially since working with the new Leeds team, the big questions that remain unanswered for me at this time are:
Why have the MDT including her previous GP left Molly this ill for 18 months?
Would this have been so long if she did not have a learning disability?
We had a meeting planned for 7th October with Moll’s consultant from Leeds.
Main findings are:
Multiple B vitamin deficiencies which may affect overall health as well as mood. Deficiencies in all fat-soluble vitamins.
Low Omega3;6 ratio Increased oxidative stress.
Genetic SNPs indicating trend towards inflammation ,
Oxidative stress,
Vit A.D.E metabolism.
COMT SNP affecting Vit b12, b9, heavily dependent on Mg ( which is low),
Supplements we will be adding as advised by Dr Indra’s Practitioner on the 7th October:
BodyBio 1 soft gel daily with any meal.
After a month add 1 cap Saccharomyces with evening meal daily.
In summary, Molly’s quality of life is continuing to improve, and I am praying I can continue to update you on her ongoing progress. Molly really enjoyed ‘Strictly’ last Saturday and sat down with me through the whole thing. I was in shock and feeling very grateful (the little things). I feel like I am getting to know her all over again… what a blessing!
Luv C X
