Easter 2024

“Good Friday was good until it wasn’t”……

Those were the words of a father of two autistic boys, as much as he describes joy he also describes with such truth the fact he finds life challenging and at times very lonely. He doesn’t sugar coat anything and I admire that, he describes parenting of special needs as if I were him, (about 15 years ago as his boys are younger than my Molly).

Anyway, about Molly we are now at the stage of having introduced the aripiprazole and at last…. Wait for it, drum roll please ………the quetiapine is gradually being reduced. ………Tweaking, tweaking, tweaking…… slowly, slowly, slowly!

When I wrote the logs today I described our last couple of days as living in ‘fast forward’ there is no rest, at least not until she lays down her pretty little head at the end of the day. Molly is still periodically being sick, she did see a Gastroenterologists recently however he did not examine her just made a decision to stop the Aripiprazole which had to be challenged by her Psychiatrist.

Just a little rant about GP surgeries, why is it so hard to get to see a doctor or get the help. I thought I would be proactive and take a urine sample in to check if Molly had a water infection, she didn’t seem right and when looking at unusual behaviours you have to rule out a physical cause first. So as I said I took it to the surgery where the reception asked “has this been requested” I said no but I would like it tested, she replied “sorry but someone has to request it, I’ll ask the pharmacy to call you so that they can request it” guess what, no one called ?

Although things have most certainly improved I do not see my Molly, I see someone who is over medicated, unstable, confused at times, emotional and unpredictable. She has times where she laughs uncontrollably which are infectious and she sings and she hugs and she is kind.

She is in there…. Now let me see💓
