25th January 2024

Mollys meeting took place last Friday the 19th January 2024. Dr David Anderson from the Regional Affective Disorder Service from the North East joined us. He had prepared by reading all off Molly’s meeting/review document’s since his face to face meeting with her on 5th October 2023.

We are currently on stage 6 of Dr Anderson’s recommendations:

‘Consider augmentation with Aripiprazole of up to 10-15mg starting at 2.5mg and titrating at 2.5mg every 1-2 weeks to reduce the risk of side effects’

This consideration was made in Molly’s best interest as her behaviours and presentation have been indicating she is heading towards a hypomanic episode. The decision was unanimous but difficult, my heart feels for her.

On a positive note the Catatonia has lifted successfully with the administration of lorazepam and she is no longer shut down or doubly incontinent.

Molly was back, we have managed to attend church the past three weeks which is progress. I witnessed her singing with a bit of a sway (out of the corner of my eye) just heartwarming!

I would personally like to thank the Mencap staff team for supporting Molly and working hard to implement all the new protocol’s to keep her safe and well. We are not out of the woods yet but in a much better place than we were.

Mollys brother Will attended the recent MDT which was great, it gives him an insight into Mollywood and learn how to advocate for his sister. (in training – she needs you #brotherly love💙)

My new read BRAIN ENERGY by Christopher M. Palmer MD.

Professor Palmer says “we are in the midst of a global mental health crisis and mental illnesses are on the rise”

The root cause of mental illness isn’t merely genetics or a chemical imbalance, but rather the energy available for your brain.

Mental disorders are metabolic disorders of the brain.

Anyway some food for thought…now let me see.
